We took advantage of Labour Day in New Zealand to go to Napier (around 5 hours drive from Wellington) for a 3-day weekend to explore the stunning Hawke’s Bay region. Here are some amazing places to go while there, even if to be honest, just driving around is worth it, as the roads offer some scenic views !

If you go to the Hawke’s Bay Region, you HAVE to go to the Te Mata Peak (yes, that’s almost an order… But look at those pictures and you will understand why I’m giving you this order ! 😉 ). Standing 399 metres above the Heretaunga Plains this place is absolutely stunning… And a perfect spot to admire the sunset.

Tangoio Falls Scenic Reserve
“Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it.” – Lao Tzu
Water has always fascinated me : I could spend hours looking at it, listening to the sound of it or feel it on my skin… yes, everything about water makes me feel at ease and soothed. 🙂
The Te Ana Falls and the Tangoio Falls in the Tangoio Falls Scenic reserve are a perfect spot to relax, enjoy the view and have a picnic.
Then, you can go to the Tutira Lake to admire the sunset – I would strongly advise you to do that, but I think you already know my love for sunsets 😉

Cape Kidnappers
While in Napier, we also explored Cape Kidnappers and its beautiful sand beaches. It was named by Captain Cook after an attempt by local Mäori to abduct one of his crew. Cape Kidnappers is home to the largest and most accessible gannet (those are birds!) colony in the world. It’s also a perfect spot for a picnic 😉

I do not know whether it’s just me or if perhaps everyone else experiencing problems with your website. It appears as if some of the text in your content are running off the screen. Can somebody else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them too? This could be a issue with my browser because I’ve had this happen previously.
